With the unveiling of the next generation of Tesla’s Powerwall, it was inevitable that some sort of battery factory would be built in its hometown of San Diego.
The first project of its kind, the $5 billion project, would be located in a former warehouse building in a San Diego suburb, and would be managed by Tesla.
With the company already laying the foundation for an extensive battery manufacturing plant, it became an obvious choice to start with San Diego’s historic downtown.
It also provided an opportunity to make a splash, as well as to give the city the best of both worlds: a huge warehouse, surrounded by a thriving, vibrant tech industry, with a lot of room for growth.
But how would the factory look?
The answer is, a lot.
Here’s a look at the layout of the project, and the process behind building it.
Building the factory The company will build the factory, which is expected to be a 20-story building with about 250,000 square feet of space.
The exterior of the building will be covered in white plastic sheeting, as is the case with Tesla’s other facilities.
The company will also use reclaimed materials, including steel, and use solar panels to power the entire facility.
At the heart of the factory will be a 1.2-million-square-foot power plant that will be connected to a 1,000-kWh battery storage system.
The power plant will generate 1.5 megawatts of power, enough to power about 3,500 homes.
Tesla says the factory’s cost will be $10 million.
For the interior, the company will use a design by artist Richard Avedon.
It will have a total of four floors, with 120,000 sq. ft. of space, including the roof, a dining area, and an elevator.
There will be two levels, each with its own entrance and exit.
Above the roof will be the solar panels that will power the factory.
Each of the two floors will have two solar panels.
In the middle of the floor will be another solar panel, and on the third level will be an indoor cooling tower.
Inside the factory floor, the walls will be made of white plastic.
On the ground floor will house the production line and the parking lot.
At the end of the roof is the Tesla factory.
Inside the Tesla building, which will house a factory, a factory and a parking lot, it will be possible to drive in and out of the facility, and also to look out on the city skyline from the factory roof.
As the factory is located in the middle, there will be ample parking for a lot more cars than what Tesla has planned for the facility.
There will also be space for the new Tesla Supercharger station, which Tesla will be building along with a third-party provider.
How to build the Tesla facility The project will be built on about 5 acres, including two large parking lots.
After the factory opens, it’ll be possible for visitors to visit the factory and take tours of the production facility.
The tour will start with a tour of the existing building, with an opportunity for visitors, as part of a Tesla Supercharging station, to take advantage of the Tesla SuperCharger station.
Then, visitors can visit the solar facility, which, along with the factory itself, will provide about 3.2 megawatts, enough power for about 300 homes.
