Builders in Portland have been busy making plans to build their $10.7 billion condo project on the site of the former home of the state’s former secretary of state.
Construction began on the project this week.
The building, which is slated to rise nearly 30 feet to the ground and include a large park, will be built at a cost of about $3 billion, according to a press release.
The project is a combination of three residential towers and a community garden that will include a pool, amphitheater, rooftop restaurant, and gymnasium.
The project is slated for completion in 2020.
The developers said they are working with Portland officials and the city of Portland to make sure the project is environmentally-friendly.
“We’ve got an amazing team here in Portland and a lot of the work has been done with environmental standards, with community engagement,” project architect Daniel Siegel said.
“The city is really on board.”
